There is life beyond this....Or is there?

The big M "Miscarriage" is like an uninvited demon that casts its shadow in the unsuspecting lives of approximately 15% of women in reproductive years.
The first reaction to a miscarriage is invariably of shock followed by a shrug of the shoulder and "Well, I shall manage" attitude. Most of the women, and also doctors would not attach much importance to the incidence. "Its known to happen! literature quotes XYZ %" is what we all hear and also, I may say, tell our patients!
Its when it happens for the second time that a thought is spared to what could be going wrong! By the time its third occurrence, all the literature has gone out of the back door, especially for the woman undergoing the trauma. Then we sit down and ask serious questions and put a label "Bad Obstetric History" on an already suffering girl! We are not wrong in doing so medically as the definition of BOH does mention 3 or more recurrent abortions. What we have to think here is not a medical classification of the disease, or condition though. Its the way to ameliorate the emotional, financial and also, reproductive drain and strain that we are asking the woman to succumb to when we do not investigate it the first time.
The European and American bodies do not advocate these investigations earlier, because it is not evidence based medicine, and it is financially not logical to for the state to spend on something which may or may not yield anything.
The scenario is different in India. A couple who is comfortable paying should be given the option to decide whether they would be interested in finding the cause of the miscarriage. The decision rests with them, but the imparting of information is the duty of the Clinician looking after them!
This helps reduce the number of women tackling multiple miscarriages with an advanced age, just because by the time everything was diagnosed and option sought out, they were at the wrong side of their fertile age!
It should be associated with a sound counseling for the woman to uplift her shaken spirits and to explain exactly how good or bad can she expect the things to be in future.
We do under estimate the mental tensile strength of our women! Most of them are not told all on the pretext of what more can she bear now! Believe me , she can bear all this and more, if it makes sense to her able mind! What we know not scares us, but what we can sort logically but becomes just another situation to be overcome!
Recurrent Miscarriage can be sorted out ... and when there is no reason found, well the prognosis for a normal pregnancy is the best in those cases!
The quintessential thing is to give her a chance, when she can, and not let her fight the ticking biological clock!!
